Happy New Year!

(Jumpsuit: Misguided: Belt: New Look; Shoes: Office)

Happy almost-New Year, party people! Hope you have a fabulous night if New Year is your thing. It's resolutely not mine, but I figured tonight was as good a night as any to show off my party outfit from this year's work Christmas party! And yes, it's velvet. And yes I ruled the dancefloor.

Pencil and Stripes

(Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Top: ASOS: Skirt: M&S; Shoes: Topshop; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Faux-fur keyring: from Home & Pantry in Camden Passage; Belt: old)

Continuing with my 'striped top and skirt' aesthetic in the run-up to 2016; with luck it'll get just chill enough to start doing layers over this! But glad I can still get mileage out of this skirt; spotted the 'real' suede one as worn by Alexa on sale (no waiting list required) in the Oxford Street store! Maybe a post-Christmas splurge...maybe not.

Warm Winter

(Gilet and jeans: Topshop; Top: Monki; Trainers: Nike; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors; Belt: ASOS: Brooch: Oasis; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Heading out for a post-Christmas walk to shake down all that turkey? If the not-so-festive temperatures continue this might be just the thing...

Post-Party Textures

(Jacket: Shrimps; Top: Urban Outfitters; Dress: ASOS; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Faux-fur keyring and watch: Michael Kors; Socks and boots: Topshop)

The perfect post-festive outfit (in this case this one was from the day after the work Christmas party) - plenty of textures to take all the attention away from a hangover/food coma.

Merry Christmas!

(Coat: Zara; Top: Urban Outfitters; Skirt: ASOS; Shoes: Nike; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors)

Happy Christmas Eve! Whether you're doing your last-minute shopping (no judgement), taking in a bracing walk before the day on which we eat EVERYTHING (*checks forecast* 'nah') or simply chilling with the family, may I suggest you do it in bright yet comfy colours?

Bury Me In Gucci

(Coat: Zara: Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Top: Monki; Skirt and boots: Topshop; Belt: old; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors)

This outfit pretty much sums up my approach to AW15 dressing, which I've realised is actually a pretty good dead ringer for an outfit...*shudder* Alexa Chung wore earlier this season. Gah. Oh well, if you can't beat 'em...and it is too good a shirt.

Caramel Suit

(Suit: Topshop; Top: Urban Outfitters; Shoes: M&S; Coat: Zara; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors)

Segueing into Christmas and starting my new year as I mean to go on: never knowingly underdressed. Plus it's always easier to get through a Monday when you're dressed to endure it!

This caramel suit was my first serious foray into being more of a Lockhart/Pearson woman for 2015 and while my suit collection has grown I'm unsure about the other part. Ah well, maybe 28/2016 will bring something new!

(Top: Urban Outfitters; Coat and belt: ASOS; Trousers: H&M; Boots: Topshop; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors)

Saw a version of this outfit in the ES Magazine and decided to replicate it! I tried on a pair of H&M trousers this weekend that were the same size as these and they wouldn't even do up; clearly H&M still firmly caters for women with the build of the models they use! But these ones, cut for curves? I should have bought them in every colour they did them in...(ok they did them in two colours)

Copper Foil

(Top; ASOS; Skirt, socks and boots: Topshop; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch and faux-fur keyring: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo; Coat: Zara; Faux-fur scarf: Helen Moore)

If I could live in stripey polonecks and interesting skirts I would, but alas I get bored too easily.

Happy Birthday to Me!

(Coat: Zara; Top: Monki; Skirt: ASOS; Shoes: Topshop; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Faux-fur keyring and watch: Michael Kors)

Striding firmly into my 28th year (though this was from last week) as I mean to go on - aggressively fashionably, purposedly and always turning heads.

(Coat: ASOS; Dress: Topshop; Shoes: Zara; Bag and watch: Michael Kors; Ring: Tessa Metcalfe)

Had to dress up in something fancy for a delicious dinner at The Palomar (book now or forever regret it) with a fabulous pal. So finally cracked out this D&G-esque Topshop dress. Easy-to-wear, shift-like and simple yet oh-so-smart? I'm in love.

Double Tap

(Coat and dress: ASOS; Shirt: Primark; Shoes: New Look; Bag and watch: Michael Kors; Brooch: Oasis; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Two outfits that were great on paper and good in person but didn't really photograph well, so have a double! Two ASOS-fests that would probably have benefitted from more heels and more time. Oh well!

(Suit: ASOS; Top: Dorothy Perkins; Shoes: Topshop; Brooch: Oasis; Watch: Michael Kors; Ring: Thomas Sabo; Bag: Prada)

Better Than One

(Coat: Zara; Top: Monki; Skirt: ASOS; Shoes: M&S; Bag and belt: vintage; Watch: Michael Kors; Ring: Tessa Metcalfe)

For when one brightly coloured patterned item just isn't enough...! It's very hard, I find, to have a truly bad day when you've dressed up for it; that's why Mondays and Tuesdays tend to be - aside from Fridays - the days I dress up most for. You've got to put your best foot forward...especially when you hear that someone else won Best Dressed in the office and they came in on Monday in black trousers and a cream jumper...

Vintage and Prints

(Coat and bag: vintage: Dress: Topshop; Shoes: Clarks)

Just the thing to wear to a festive Advent service in your new local church and make sure you stick out like a sore thumb among the locals...

(Coat: Zara; Faux-fur scarf: Helen Moore; Skirt, shirt and boots: Topshop; Jumper and brooch: Oasis; Belt: ASOS; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

I wanted something suitably luxe-feeling yet vaguely sensible to wear to go and see Carol. Not nearly luxe enough - needed more furs - but passable. PS Go see Carol, it's beautiful.

City Snuggler

(Dress and boots: ASOS; Coat: Zara; Faux-fur scarf: Helen Moore; Top: Monki; Bag: vintage: Watch: Michael Kors; Brooch: Oasis; Trainers: Nike)

The perfect thing for trotting around the city in the sunshine - matching/clashing layers and snug faux-fur! Naturally I ended up caving and wearing trainers instead of heels for the day...but that's what I bought burgundy trainers for (to match all the burgundy things I've got)!

(Gilet, boots and skirt: Topshop; Belt and jumper: ASOS; Bag: vintage; Watch: Michael Kors)

Another outfit I want to wear all week, day in and day out. Plus especially good in blusterous weather; the skirt comes somehow magical!

(Skirt: ASOS; Jumper: old; Shoes: Topshop; Bag: vintage: Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Considering I had to stop between each camera flash to sneeze (can you tell) these turned out pretty well. But then when a skirt is this good - part Mondrian, part Roksanda - it can just about distract from anything.

Equestrian Chic

(Jacket and boots: Topshop; Jumper: H&M; Shirt: Zara; Jeans: ASOS; Bag: vintage; Watch: Michael Kors)

Trying to do casual dressed-down yet still smart but kind of ended up with this strange equestrian vibe. Oh well! Also need to find a better light in which to photograph these boots...

Excuse Me

(Jacket: Shrimps; Dress: ASOS; Top: Monki; Bag: vintage: Boots: Topshop; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Excuse the hair; I was trying something different. Not excusing the print clash, though; that was deliberate!

Burgundy Suede

(Dress: ASOS; Top and coat: Topshop; Shoes: Zara; Bag: Alexander Wang; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Rediscovering the brilliant colour combination that is burgundy and light blue! And yet another suede thing from ASOS...amazingly not too short! Anything they mark as 'midi' is generally a bit touch-and-go when you've got a long torso but this, thankfully, passes my 'hemline is longer than short coat hemline' test.

Pink and Perfect

(Coat: vintage: Jacket, top and boots: Topshop; Trousers and belt: ASOS; Bag: Sophie Hulme; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Yes it's that pink Prada-esque suit Topshop did! Yes there are matching trousers, and no they are not the most flattering cut or fabric. Plus they're rather see-through! I'll work up to them...but in the meantime I LOVE this boxy jacket in this lovely shade, which will look better if my Christmas present request comes off...

Business Casual

(Coat: vintage; Jumper: ASOS; Trousers: H&M; Socks and shoes: Topshop; Bag: Sophie Hulme; Watch: Michael Kors)

'Scuse the resting bitch face below; I was trying to suppress a sneeze. Also would you believe these trousers are actually a dark blue pinstripe? Still getting to grips with this new lighting...

Gilet, skirt, bag and socks: Topshop; Jumper; ASOS; Shoes: Zara; Watch: Michael Kors)

Ta-da! It's December so it's time for a new photo setting! Ok not really - it was genuinely too dark to photograph. So you get to see my super-clinical-looking corridor! I'm still figuring out fun things to do with my whole flat and a corridor is NEVER something you fantasise about decorating. BUT the possibilities are intriguing. Brightly coloured doors? Funky stripes? Beautifully detailed illustrations? We shall see...
PS Into sparkly socks. It finally happened.

(Coat and culottes: ASOS; Shirt: New Look; Shoes: Topshop; Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch: Michael Kors)

Watching a very beautiful sunrise for what might possibly be the last early morning workday outfit shot of the year...it's so darn dark! But the sun does set off burgundy so nicely I can't complain when it's only fleeting.

In a Rug

(Shoes and coat: ASOS; Skirt: Topshop; Cardigan: H&M; Belt: from Primark top; Necklace: Dorothy Perkins; Bag: vintage; Watch: Michael Kors)

Taking the 'high fashion mad old lady' aesthetic to new heights with this Gucci-esque skirt. I've never had much luck with skirts like this; they always feel a little frumpy when compared to the 'elegantly styled with a grey poloneck and waif-like limbs' version I see in the magazines. I just need to play with my proportions a little bit.

Snug as a Bug

(Coat: ASOS; Shirt: Zara; Trousers: H&M; Boots: Topshop; Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Woohoo it finally got cold enough to wear the big furry monster coat of dreams! I decided against wearing a wide-brimmed hat; that might have been a bit too far...but otherwise, full-on '70s with paisley, flares and fluff!
