Home Improvements

(Top and belt: Topshop; Jeans and coat: ASOS; Shoes: Zara; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Brooch: Black Heart Creatives; Watch: Michael Kors)

Introducing my awesome new home decor! I am SO pleased with it; no more boring yellow-tinged white wall backdrop for these shots (though due to a weird floor they are likely always going to be slightly lopsided), no siree! It took several days and a lot of maths and masking tape (and the help of a mum, naturally) but it's done! The zig-zag runs almost the length of the corridor and turns my home into a trippy art installation the Mad Hatter would be proud of!

The Perfect Skirt

(Skirt and belt: ASOS; Top: Urban Outfitters; Coat: Zara; Faux-fur scarf: Helen Moore; Boots: Topshop; Bag and watch: Michael Kors)

Camo print! A line! Mid-length! Pockets! Might this be the greatest skirt ever? Quite possibly...

Nothing particularly out-of-the-ordinary; I've just enjoyed the striped jumper/metallic pleated skirt dominant theme of the winter so I wanted to do it again! Here's to more reruns of favourite outfits.

'Coz even though there's finally some frost about, all the flowers are coming up...

Tropical Winter

(Trousers: Zara; Top and boots: Topshop; Jacket and belt: ASOS; Bag and watch: Michael Kors; Brooch: Black Heart Creatives)

Another successful foray into sewing machine...ing? Zara have a horrible habit - well, like most places - of cutting their trousers straight up and down, so I had to size up and then cut a nice neat chunk out of the waistline. But hey, when they were £9.99 in the sale it was an experiment I was happy to do. And it turned out well!

Grey and Yellow

(Top: Zara; Trousers and belt: ASOS; Jacket: Shrimps; Shoes: Adidas; Bag: vintage; Brooch: Black Heart Creatives; Watch: Michael Kors)

I remember years ago waxing lyrical about how great the yellow/grey colour combination is and still, years later, I make a beeline for it any time I spot it on a shelf or a rack. It'll be the last thing for a while - as we're into Lent I've officially given up shopping (in the UK - a very exciting holiday in the middle just has to allow me an exception)! But a few choice ASOS pieces and these brilliant brooches from Black Heart Creatives will definitely tide me over.

Date Night

(Jacket and skirt: Topshop; Top: Urban Outfitters; Shoes: Zara; Belt: old; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company)

A very Valentine's look for a non-Valentine's dinner date. I'm glad these proportions actually work well in a photograph - didn't feel quite so good wearing them so nice when you see that, to other people, they look just right!

A Perfect Match

(Top and skirt: ASOS; Coat: Zara; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Shoes: Adidas; Watch: Michael Kors)

A much more successful skirt-top pairing and finally the right match for this skirt! Hooray! Not quite sure what I'll do when it gets a bit warmer as the side-slit in this skirt is still very risqué (would size up, it wouldn't fit as well at the waist and I don't fancy my chances adjusting a suede skirt to fit me)...but until then job's a good 'un.

Got Your Attention

(Coat: Zara; Top, skirt and shoes: ASOS; Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Belt: old; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Watch: Michael Kors; Ring: Tessa Metcalfe)

Help I've gone full eccentric! Well not quite - the top half is still sort of sensible. But the carpet/tapestry skirt and the pom-pom shoes? Well, they got attention. And that's what it's about.

Tall Tails

Coat: Zara; Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Trousers: ASOS; Top: Cos; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Trainers: Adidas; Jewellery: John Lewis; Watch: Michael Kors; Belt: old)

Finally managed to get these trousers to a length that doesn't mean I have to wear ridiculous heels or trip over them all the time! I remember buying these when I was deep into my 'if I dress like Jessica Pearson I will somehow succeed in business' phase and actually it didn't quite translate. Because she isn't real, obviously. But the power of some very flattering high-waisted trousers can translate better, I think.

My transformation into the Purple One from a box of Quality Street continues with this mustard polo! It's never got a good rep as colours go - I mean, it doesn't sound great; I can't hear it without thinking of the Mad Hatter in the Disney cartoon shouting 'MUTHTARD?' - but mustard is SUCH a good shade and does go with everything. I'm glad I've got something of it in my wardrobe.

(Jacket: Shrimps; Top and boots: ASOS; Skirt: Topshop; Belt: old; Bag: vintage; Necklace: Wolf & Moon; Watch: Michael Kors)

Hello little creatures! How many different animal (print)s can one cram into one look, you ask? Well how about...four? If you include the fox that is. I am hoping it stays cold enough for layers a little longer if only so I can cram as many prints into one look as possible!

A Fox In Autumn

(Dress: ASOS; Jacket: Boohoo; Faux-fur scarf: Helen Moore; Shoes: Adidas; Bag and watch: Michael Kors; Necklace: Wolf & Moon)

And so the week of interesting necklines rolls on! I freakin' LOVE this dress and I'm going to commit to wearing it more and in more ways, but with this brilliant fringed jacket (which hits just at the same height as the dress's waistband) and my little foxy necklace to really bring out the autumnal side of my fashion personality is a good way for now!

Maxi To Midi

(Dress: ASOS; Boots: Topshop; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Coat: Zara; Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore; Watch: Michael Kors; Jewellery: Thomas Sabo)

Ok, now I'm not one to toot my own horn BUT I do want to draw your attention to the fact that this dress used to look like this... Yep, that's a maxi-to-a-midi transformation you're looking at! And let me tell you, that's a very difficult transformation to undertake by yourself. The first time I tried it, I kind of ended up with a not-so-deliberate 'longer at the back' thing with the hem...but second-ish time seemingly lucky! I'm hoping to get a lot more wear out of it this way...

Give Good Neck

(Top, skirt and boots: Topshop; Belt: ASOS; Coat: Zara; Bag: Cambridge Satchel Company; Watch: Michael Kors; Faux-fur stole: Helen Moore)

Happy February! Hope you survived January relatively intact...I know I came out the other side with a bigger clothing collection than before. More on that later...
But for now, another striped jumper, this time with an interesting neckline to boot! I should really have got a size up to make the neckline fit better over my well-worked-out shoulders but hey-ho...it makes for an interesting offset against the lines of the skirt, don't you think? Not to mention the optical illusion around the bust...Sod all that 'blue and green should never be seen' nonsense!
